This is a searing analysis. You are right that most people fail to realize that financialization isn't limited to Wall Street and that it has quietly consumed the "real" businesses we use every day.

Take airlines like Southwest or Delta. Flying passengers is often just a distraction. The actual business is selling miles to banks. Analysts estimate that without these credit card partnerships, most major airlines in US would be deeply unprofitable.

We have reached a point where the "product" is just an excuse for the financial transaction:

- Airlines don't sell transportation, they sell currency (miles) to banks.

- McDonald’s is a real estate empire that treats burger-flipping as a tenant necessity.

- Car dealerships aren't interested in selling you a car; they are interested in selling you the loan. (Try buying a car with cash today and watch how fast the dealer loses interest, cash buyers are now often penalized or ignored because the dealer loses the kickback from the bank).

The "real economy" is now just a front for the financial one.

One of the greatest obscenities of our times is how Trump has lined the oval office with gold filigree.... "fool's gold".

Milton Friedman was a two-bit fraudster.

Neoliberalism has been the death knell of the West.

Not content with success, destroyed by excess.
