I've just come back from visiting my grandparents place in the middle of nowhere, Spain's Lappland ( https://montanasvacias.com/spanish-lappland/ ) and i can definitely relate to your post, but for mostly different reasons.

Serendipity or not, I did first come across the "Third Front" history just a couple of weeks ago, here:

This is based upon a Russian study (here: https://eng.globalaffairs.ru/articles/china-kashin-smirnova-yankova/ ) that makes the point that China has been silently embarking on a huge strategic defense buildup of a much bigger size and scope than previously thought.

Do you have any thoughts on this topic? I guess it has been validated -at least in part- as China has shown that it can ignore oil supply disruptions for months on end and even keep on exporting refined products...

Thank you for a wonderful look into China's past & present. I'm a Canadian expat living in the Philippines & wish the West had progressed like China has done. I'm 80 yrs old now, & sadly, many of my age group believe the lies & propaganda about China. I pray Philippines can step back from becoming the Ukraine of S/E Asia. Please continue your much needed work.
